Project details
Bellfield / Opaheke Park is a residential subdivision, currently stage 1 of 5 stages. Stages 4 – 5 is another 22.4 Ha and the total yield will be around 600 dwellings. It is an integrated subdivision with housing being designed and built by a group, the first stage is mostly sold out. The subdivision is within a special housing area and architecturally designed terrace housing among the larger lots will be available to Kiwibuild customers.
This site has significant challenges as it lies within a flood plain. One of the challenges is therefore to create new dwellings with adequate freeboard without affecting existing residents up or down the same stormwater catchment. Stormwater storage balancing will be achieved by doing work on behalf of Auckland Council within the sportsfield/park immediately to the south of the site. This area will be transformed into a beautiful and useful recreational area for public use.
Other tasks specific to this job:
- Improvement of the Slippery Creek Watercourse to minimise flooding and enhance ecology.
- Construction of a new pump station that will also benefit some of the existing houses in the neighbourhood.
- Water supply augmentation work on behalf of Veolia, which will also benefit and enhance security of supply to residents in the wider area.
- Flood mitigation work within Bellfied Road. An area of existing road and housing currently experiencing frequent flood nuisance will be improved by upgrading drainage and accommodating it as part of the new system through the Bellfield Estate site.
