Oliver Ewing, one of our staff members based in our Queenstown office is a volunteer fireman. On 22 May 2021 he competed in the Firefighter’s Sky Tower Challenge. The Challenge is put on to support and fund Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC). Every day 7 children and adults in New Zealand are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. LBC is the national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families, this support can last months or even years.
This year, 945 fire fighters took to the course, climbing 1103 stairs with 25kg of gear and breathing apparatus on, raising $1,374,216. Of that, the Queenstown Fire Brigade contributed $9,904.
The fastest time for open male category was 9:20 minutes. Fastest open women’s was 12:56 minutes.
