Project details
Maven Associates were engaged to provided civil engineering services from conceptual design, detailed design, consenting and construction for a new administration building at the landmark Auckland Zoo site at Westmere.
The aesthetics and functionality of the new building was of equal importance to the client. The challenge for this project as to ensure that the attractive new building is functional in the context of a brownfield site with existing zoo operational facilities in near proximity.
We worked closely with renowned architects Ignite right from the conceptual design to ensure building envelope was situated correctly on site and that impacts on critical services was minimised.
Finished level coordination was undertaken at detail to ensure tie-ins to existing building and roads within an overall aim to minimise cut depths on a site deemed contaminated. The building was also fitted with water harvesting capability for grey water reuse as part of the overall stormwater management for the site.
Maven has delivered a high-quality set of civil engineering documentation through resource consent and building consent phases. With all consents granted and contractor selected, works are currently underway.
